Wang Shu truly has that architect’s ability to go to the roots of the richest and oldest tradition and culture and the most ancient techniques. That is where he draws his strength for conceiving contemporary creations adapted to today's world that also take into account social concerns and aesthetic considerations, as well as sustainable development. He obtained the 2012 Pritzker Prize.
