Prologue
Suppose you were accused of a crime you did not commit. Now suppose you were denied all available defense and therefore, convicted of this crime and then shipped off to prison where you will spend the next 54 months fighting for your life. Finally, suppose the accusation was proven false, but one judge blocks all of your redemption efforts. Now ask yourself this question; "How far would you go to prove you're innocent?" From cop to convict, a true story about a police officer that had been falsely accused of sexual wrongdoings and of his journey in pursuit of redemption. This is a personal story of racism, police brutality and the reality of the orchestrated conviction in Brunswick County, NC. Falsely Accused Forever Branded involves a documented suicidal juvenile who seeks revenge on those who oppose her. It is a hot and humid southern summer night when Luther (Luke) Stidham, a 36-year-old police officer working the third shift, faces a conglomerate of accusations carrying with them the possibility of a 40-year prison sentence. Known for his pretty boy hazel eyes, Luke is the ideal candidate for the antics of a devious opportunist. A mentor at heart, Luke feels like a Koi fish in a tank of piranhas, he just doesn't belong. Luke’s mind-numbing experience begins when he meets the young woman, oddly dressed, almost comical, making her way to introduce herself. Brandy Lewis, a wanna-be prom queen has a dark side. As the queen of maliciousness, she thrives for attention and attempts to portray him as her lover. But Luke will have nothing to do with it, and warns her “I am a friend and nothing more.” But Brandy doesn’t take betrayal lightly, and vows to take her vengeance. And that is when it happens: Luke becomes a victim in a seductive world of secret revenge. And from that moment on, his whole life changes, for from now on there will be no turning back. As for Luke, he can never be returned to the position he once held, nor can he be completely free from this dreadful branding. Ridiculed with shame, the torture is enough to drive even the sanest to insanity. But you know what they say about lemons and lemonade... This is his story.
