Excerpt from Planned Utilization of Ground Water Basins; Coastal Plain of Los Angeles County: Appendix C; Operation and Economics The general objective of this program is to formulate and present Operational-economic information on a Wide range of plans that will assist local agencies to achieve the maximum utilization of ground water basins in coordination with surface storage and transmission facilities. To at tain this objective, the work program for each area of the investigation is divided into three phases: geology, hydrology, and Operation-economics. The firs two phases provide the basic information required to develop a mathematical model of a ground water basin that simulates the basin's water level responses under various assumed plans of basin Operation. The model is then used in the Operational-economic phase of the investigation to determine the cost of Operation. The results of this phase for the Coastal Plain are presented in this appendix. The results of the geologic and hydrologic phases have been reported in Appendixes A and B.
