Horror on Hoy (Marna #3)

A Stone Age Whodunit. The third book in the Marna Mystery Series set in Neolithic Orkney. Marna is an adventurous young woman living at the Ness of Brodgar, where her step father, Patro, is the head priest. He and her mother have gone on a trip to Stonehenge and while they are away, Marna visits her friend Sylva on the smaller island of Hoy. Sylva and her husband are part of a group building a new community there. While the men are out of the settlement cutting trees, it is attacked by pirates and Marna is horrified when Sylva is taken captive. She returns to the Ness, expecting immediate retaliation, but Patro's brother is temporarily in charge and he has other ideas. A murder at the Ness, news of her step father's death, secret alliances and false accusations convince Marna that if Sylva is to be rescued, a murderer is to be found and the pirates vanquished, she and her friends will have to take matters into their own hands, even if that means an all out battle on Hoy.
