After meeting in 2010 at the airport in Minneapolis, Sonja Karlsen asked George Maloney, a World War II veteran, to share his memories of the war in letters. Over the course of two and a half years, this is the result. Karlsen chose to leave Maloney's letters as is, besides correcting spelling errors.Maloney relays stories from his time in the Marines, including being wounded in Okinawa, as well as stories of growing up in Wisconsin and his life up until the letters were compiled by Karlsen.Never published, it also includes the original letter from Karlsen to Maloney after they first met, a side story of how the two met, and a letter written to family and Karlsen by Maloney's oldest son, Tom.George T.
