Overview: Comment s'en sortir quand on est un chômeur fauché et que le poker ne nourrit pas son homme ? José Maria Hermosillo de los Santos, bluffeur comme pas deux, pense avoir trouvé la solution. Mais voilà qu'une série d'événements va transformer l'agréable voyage en un périple bien plus long et agité. A commencer par la présence de la troublante miss McCoy, une exploratrice qui part à la recherche d'un animal mythique dans les terres des hommes bleus, ces indigènes en apparence primitifs mais possédant d'étranges pouvoirs de communication mentale. Et puis il y a cette histoire de prince qui aurait disparu en plein vol et que cherchent frénétiquement les soldats du Dorchland, ce pays belliqueux qui semble conduire inexorablement le monde à la guerre; « C'est une aventure délirante ! », annonce Leo en guise de présentation de sa nouvelle série. Cette fois, il s'est « contenté » d'écrire le scénario. C'est d'ailleurs la première fois qu'il imagine un scénario pour un dessinateur, en l'occurrence pour l'Espagnol Sergio Garcia, graphiste virtuose au trait subtil et teinté d'humour. « J'avais adoré sa série, Géographie martienne », explique Leo. « L'éditeur m'a proposé de lui écrire une histoire. J'ai alors conçu un personnage d'aventurier raté un peu ridicule. Le récit se déroule dans un monde imaginaire qui ressemble à l'Afrique des années 30, avec, en arrière-plan, la guerre qui menace. » Péripéties et rebondissements en tout genre sont au rendez-vous. Pretty good overall. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

I was pleasantly surprised. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.

Finished it in a couple of days. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Will be looking for more from this author.
