Overview: Català-Roca viajó durante media vida. En los numerosos viajes que realizó en todo el país para poder ilustrar guías regionales, principalmente durante las décadas de 1950-1970, captó con su cámara recortes de una España atrasada, preindustrial, pero que contendía aquel espíritu alejado de la mecanización que se estaba reivindicando desde la arquitectura. Y mientras cumplía con sus encargos de fotografiar vastas regiones del territorio español, mientras se centraba principalmente en las tareas del campo y de las ciudades, en los monumentos, en los paisajes y en el *paisanatge, casi sin querer, mirando de reojo, a veces encontraba aquellas arquitecturas: paisajes modelados por el ser humano y construcciones para un mismo, para sus cultivos, sus tareas y sus animales que contenían el genio de aquella «arquitectura sin arquitectos».Sin embargo, también por aquella época, Català-Roca fue testigo de los bruscos cambios que se estaban produciendo en una España que, con dificultades, salía de la Guerra Civil, donde una buena parte del país apenas había sido tocada por la industrialización. Y en sus viajes retrató los últimos latigazos de la vida campesina a Europa, justo antes de su desaparición.La desaparición de la tradición milenaria del campesinado —que en España casi podría datarse del 1985 con la entrada de España en la Comunidad Europea— dio a los negocios de la agricultura y de la ganadería, inmersos en la dinámica del desarrollo tardocapitalista, que han dejado un paisaje y unas arquitecturas muy diferentes.Language: Catalan / Spanish

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Glad I picked this up.
