Excerpt: The Air Force of the Independent State of Croatia, the Zrakoplovstvo Nezavisne Dr ave Hrvatske (ZNDH) was the national air force of the Independent State of Croatia during World War II, founded under German authority in April 1941. In 1943 it was renamed the Croatian Battle Air Force. Although it could not be considered a large air arm in the wider context of World War II, the ZNDH nonetheless had on its charge at one time or another some 650 aircraft between April 1941 and May 1945, as well as anti-aircraft and paratroop units. During the middle part of 1941, some of the force's man-power capacity was sent to the Eastern Front as part of the Luftwaffe, the Croatian Air Force Legion (Croatian: , (HZL) German: Kroatische Luftwaffen Legion). Most of the Croatian Air Force Legion's personnel were back on Croatian soil by late 1943-early 1944 to help counter the growing Allied air threat. A Croatian Anti-Aircraft Legion was also deployed. The force maintained a flying school, originally in Rajlovac near Sarajevo. Its parachute and paratroop school was located in Koprivnica, and its scout (fighter) school was located in Zagreb. Four men attained the force's top rank General Zrakoplovstva (General of the Air Force): Emil Uzelac, Miroslav Navratil, Vladimir Kren, and Dragutin Rub i . A very satisfying read. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. Would probably read it again at some point.

Not bad, but not my favorite. It had some good moments, but the overall plot felt a bit disjointed in the second half. Might work better for someone else, just wasn't completely for me.

Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. Enjoyable weekend read.
