Overview: Gailiti varasem proosa on uusromantiline ja fantaasiaküllane ning taotleb erakordsust ja rabavust nii materjalivalikus, stiilis kui ka tegelaskujudes. «Toomas Nipernaadi», romantiline romaan seitsmes novellis, on eelnenutest realistlikum ning lüürilisem. «Nipernaadi» ilmus algselt kolme osa kaupa Loomingus ja 1928. a tervikuna. Toomas Nipernaadi oli tollal eesti kirjanduses täiesti uut tüüpi tegelane, romantiline hulkur ja seikleja. Tema andeks on sõnad ja lugude vestmine ning Eesti ilusas suves seigeldes paneb ta endasse armuma kõik ilusad tüdrukud ning ajab närvi rumalad mehed.August Gailit (1891–1960) sündis Sangaste lähistel Kuiksillal ning kasvas üles Laatre mõisas. Mitmekeelne kodu ning kooliharidus andsid talle eesti, läti, vene ja saksa keele oskuse. Aastani 1911 õppis Gailit Valgas ja Tartus, töötas seejärel Riias, Tartus ja Tallinnas ajakirjanikuna ning osales sõjaväeametniku-kirjasaatjana Vabadussõjas. Koos Henrik Visnapuuga lõi Gailit kaasa kirjanikerühmituse Siuru loomises ja tegevuses. 1944. aastal põgenes ta Rootsi.1983. aastal raamatu põhjal valminud tuntud mängufilm ei tee eesti kirjanduse ühele kuulsamale teosele vähematki häbi. Arvustajate silmis on Tõnu Kargi mängitud Toomas Nipernaadi jäänud lavalaudade omadega võrreldes tänini ületamatuks.

Such a great read. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.

Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. Not bad at all.
