Overview: Va haver-hi un temps en què les naus de la Sisena Flota nord-americana a la Mediterrània sovintejaven Barcelona. El 1951 el blanc dels uniformes dels seus mariners va començar a omplir la Rambla i el barri Xino amb una flaire de diners i excentricitat. Les dones els estimaven, els homes els envejaven i les criatures els perseguien demanant-los xiclets i xocolata. Amb aquelles visites va canviar tota la part baixa de la ciutat, que va viure una època daurada. Meuques, comerciants, hostalers, sastres o taxistes, tothom va aprofitar aquella pluja de dòlars. Així va ser com va néixer una indústria turística que encara conserva moltes pràctiques i costums d’aquells anys.La història de la Sisena Flota a Barcelona és una història d’amor i d’odi que es va acabar sobtadament el dia de Sant Esteve de 1987 amb un atemptat mai aclarit. Des d’aleshores aquella polèmica flota no ha tornat a ancorar mai més al nostre port. Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Glad I picked this up.
