These congresses are held every three years in a different country and usually on a different continent. The last congress was held in Sydney and the next one in 1999 will be in Beijing.Meanwhile, the present congress in San Francisco promises to break all records. Over 2000 papers were submitted, of which around 1400 have been selected for presentation. Pressure on time during the congress has been extreme and even with 17 parallel sessions it has not been possible to accommodate all papers offered. Glad someone recommended this to me. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Glad I picked this up.
