Overview: Zašto se ovaj predmet zove historiografski praktikum, a ne povijesni praktikum? Tijekom dosadašnjeg školovanja mogli ste iz udžbenika saznati da se povijest uglavnom definira kao znanost koja proučava i objašnjava prošlost, i to prvenstveno ljudsku prošlost. Ljudski je čimbenik u povijesnoj znanosti ključan budući da je, na primjer, čak i u posljednje vrijeme vrlo popularna povijest okoliša iii ekohistorija povijesna znanost samo utoliko što proučava utjecaj čovjeka na ekosustav i obrnuto. Međutim, pojam povijesti u značenju same ljudske prošlosti ujedno je i predmet proučavanja povijesne znanosti. Prema tome, riječ povijest označavala bi i satnu prošlost i proučavanje prošlosti. Dok je sama prošlost nepromjenjiva, proučavanje prošlosti u stalnoj je transformaciji bilo pronalaženjem novih izvora, bilo postavljanjem novih istraživačkih pitanja, bilo usavršavanjem postojećih i pronalaženjem novih znanstvenih metoda. Dvostrukost shvaćanja pojma povijesti javlja se od vremena prosvjetiteljstva, a ponekad se o tome raspravlja i danas. Neki jezici, poput njemačkog, razlikuju i leksički ta dva pojma - za povijest u značenju prošlosti koristi se termin Geschichte, a u značenju proučavanja prošlosti H/s tone. U nekim drugim jezicima javlja se leksički problem razlikovanja dvaju značenja iste riječi. Na primjer, u francuskom se ta dvosmislenost pokušavala riješiti prijedlogom da se povijest (histoire) piše u jednom značenju malim, a u drugom velikim slovom....

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. I got really invested in the main character's journey. Everything just clicked for me. A solid 5/5 for me.
