Overview: The heroic struggles organized by the society against colonial invaders, the love and amity maintained by the community in a multi-cultural society and their adaptation to the indigenous culture are vividly described in the work. As a vibrant society, the Mappila Muslims had left behind a glowing history which has contributed to a large extend to the development of Indian culture, particularly that of South India. The author has prolifically utilized regional sources in Arabic and in the local dialect along with the official documents, for his studies. The thesis propounded in this book is based on the papers presented in various seminars and the essays published by the author in different journals.The author, Dr.Hussain Randathani, born at Marakkara village in the Mappila heartland of Kerala (INDIA) in 1958, was educated at Farook college, Calicut and Aligarh Muslim University. He was awarded Ph.D by the University of Calicut for his thesis on the Mappila Muslim Society of nineteenth century.

A solid read. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. Enjoyable weekend read.

Finished it in a couple of days. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. A solid 5/5 for me.

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.
