Overview: NecronoteThe yearly Necronote arrived. Soph felt sick to his stomach, same as he had for over three centuries. It meant one thing—kill, or be killed.Birthday's should be a time for celebration, but for Necros they're a nightmare. In the company of a jittery dragon wyrmling, and several new friends he meets along the way, Soph tries to keep it together as he battles magic way beyond his ken. Worse than that, he has to leave his family in the care of his mother-in-law, a witch bitch with annoyingly nice hair.Soph's violent side is stretched to the limit as he does what it takes to continue his sorry existence, yet all he wants is peace. To watch his daughter grow, and be with the animals he has the gift of communicating with.As the temperature in the United Kingdom soars to new heights, the ban on motor vehicles becomes absolute, and strict electric quotas tighten, it's like returning to a bygone age for our damaged zoolinguist. But having to cycle to go kill a guy certainly has its drawbacks.Dog DaysSpilled wine. Dwarf in the hall. Lump on the head. That's what Soph got by 7AM on his birthday. And the Necronote was yet to arrive. After torture by teenage karaoke, and a restless night, he figured he'd get going early the next morning to get the job done and return to his family. But when had it ever worked out like that? Those behind the mysterious notes seemed to have chosen him as their plaything. More snippets of vague information, attempts on a dear friend's life, and that was before he even began his quest to kill another stranger.Eventually, he makes it to Liverpool, but the city has been ravished after strict lockdowns and draconian measures designed to curb impending global catastrophe. Soph hates the city, he yearns for the countryside and the relative peace with his animals. As the body count inevitably rises, and madness consumes our weary, broken Necro, Soph wonders if he's finally come to the end of his long, torturous life. Not for the first time, he questions whether the price for survival is worth paying.Dragon NightsFirst day out of hospital and what does a poor Necro find? That he has to go and kill again. This time he's got an unexpected companion. The neighbors aren't who they seem, the witch bitch mother-in-law has decided to move in for a while, and Soph's dog keeps vanishing. He even found him inside the fridge! But that's just the fun stuff. With a dragon lusting after blood, and growing larger and more unruly by the day, and uppity unicorns putting a downer on everything, the real struggle our weary Necro faces is just staying sane. When it comes to family, he'll ditch his few remaining morals if it means he can return home. When he does, he discovers the fight is far from over.At least he can make snowballs.Kill SwitchWith his guts squirming and every possible precaution taken, Soph still gets assaulted by the yearly Necronote.Things get so desperate, he has to call on Mr. Wonderful to save him. Never, ever rely on a cat. For anything. Ever. But the drama is far from over. His dog has an existential crisis. It's petageddon yet again. With strict electric quotas still in place, but the digital age in full binary swing, when the kill switch is finally flicked the world goes truly dark...

I liked it for the most part. I liked the main character, though some of the side plots were just okay. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

Good, but not quite perfect. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. A solid 4 stars from me.

It was just alright. It had some good moments, but the overall plot felt a bit disjointed in the second half. Might work better for someone else, just wasn't completely for me.
