Overview: Das Massaker der Hamas am 7. Oktober 2023 hat zu einem erschreckenden Aufflammen des Antisemitismus in einem globalen Maßstab geführt, so auch in Deutschland. Dabei tritt dieser insbesondere in sich als progressiv, links und weltoffen verstehenden Milieus des Kunst- und Kulturbetriebs sowie an den Universitäten städtischer Metropolen lautstark in Erscheinung. Bereits zuvor bestehende Spaltungen wurden vertieft oder taten sich neu auf, so dass der Kunst- und Kulturbetrieb seit dem 7. Oktober unheilbar zerrissen wirkt. Während die Relevanz einer künstlerischen Äußerung häufig nur noch im Verhältnis zu einer Positionierung zum Israel-Palästina-Konflikt bemessen zu werden scheint, zeigt sich in den (Nicht-)Äußerungen einzelner Künstler*innen sowie von Institutionen zugleich ein großer Mangel an Empathie bis hin zu einer Verherrlichung terroristischer Gewalt.Die Reaktionen in den verschiedenen Bereichen der Kunst und des Kulturbetriebs sind bis heute verstörend. Der Judenhass der Terrororganisation Hamas wird mit Verweis auf eine vermeintlich progressive postkoloniale Perspektive verklärt. Israel wird als kolonialer Siedlerstaat verunglimpft, der Vorwurf der Apartheid und des Genozids an den Palästinenser*innen in aggressiver Weise artikuliert und beliebige israelische Bürger*innen sowie Jüdinnen und Juden werden in Kollektivhaftung genommen.Judenhass im Kunstbetrieb analysiert die Ursachen und Äußerungsformen dieses Antisemitismus, beleuchtet Gegenpositionen und diskutiert mögliche Konsequenzen. Der Band geht davon aus, dass die Reaktionen auf den 7. Oktober in den einzelnen Kunstfeldern unterschiedlich ausgefallen und daher differenziert zu betrachten sind. Finished it in a couple of days. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.
