Overview: Survival. It's an innate need in all of us. This anthology of 19 poems and short stories explores the concept of survival from a refreshing variety of perspectives, whether it's aiming for fortune only to look back with nostalgia, protecting those we love, being the best people we can be or the daily toil just to stay alive. The writers and poets hail from all over the world and their contributions reflect this, producing a beautiful patchwork of stories and poetry. As you read through them, you find yourself learning about faraway places and a myriad of cultures. However, perhaps even more importantly, you feel a powerful sense of unity. The human experience is a universal one; although our lives may seem incomparable somehow, this anthology shows us that we have more in common than we may think.On this thought, it is natural for our minds to turn to those facing an especially difficult fight for survival around the world and Syria is certainly one of the worst. While we may not be able to truly appreciate the scenes they encounter or experiences they go through, we can imagine the heartache, loss and devastation that engulfs their lives at this time. Motivated by such feelings, this anthology was put together to raise money for those suffering in Syria and refugees in neighbouring countries. Finished it in a couple of days. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. A solid 5/5 for me.

Finished it in a couple of days. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. Will be looking for more from this author.

Good, but not quite perfect. Interesting premise and executed fairly well. Just a few slow chapters here and there. Still a good book.

Finished it in a couple of days. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Worth the time and money.
