Overview: Cartea de faţă a fost scrisă de Cuviosul Părinte Iustin Popovici, Sfântul dogmatist al veacului al douăzecilea după Hristos, ca urmare a unor alunecări ruşinoase ale capilor Bisericilor Ortodoxe din Răsăritul Europei, care au strecurat ţânțarul şi au înghiţit cămila ascunzând Adevărul şi istoria plină de mucenici în numele singurului Adevăr din toate lumile cu putinţă. Ea s-a tipărit întâi în limba sârbă de Mănăstirea Hilandar din Sfântul Munte Athos, în anul 1975, dat fiind că sub regimul comunist apariţia ei a fost cu totul cu neputinţă.Cartea a fost apoi tradusă în limba greacă modernă şi publicată în Grecia în anul 1979. Şocul produs de această carte, netipărită în vreuna din ţările neortodoxe ale Europei până astăzi, a fost uriaş. Acesta a fost motivul pentru care de îndată ce ea a apărut în Grecia, a fost tradusă după această ediţie, în 1979, de către răposatul părinte Olimp Căciulă. O copie dactilografiată a traducerii sale se află de atunci până astăzi în Facultatea de Teologie din Bucureşti, aproape nebăgată în seamă. Cartea de faţă a fost tradusă după ediţia din 1995 a Mănăstirii athonite Hilandar. În 1999 a apărut şi în Serbia, tipărită de mănăstirea în care şi-a petrecut Sfântul Iustin cea mai mare parte a vieţii sale, Mănăstirea Celie. Această ediţie s-a epuizat destul de repede, astfel încât astăzi nu se mai găseşte. Dorim ca prin traducerea ei în româneşte să umplem un mare gol existent în sufletele doritoare de adevăr. Iar astăzi, poate mai mult ca în alte dăţi, se simte nevoia lămuririi întrebărilor apăsătoare care privesc Biserica:- există har sfinţitor în afara Bisericii Ortodoxe? - există mântuire în afara Bisericii Ortodoxe? - ce urmăreşte ecumenismul? - se vor uni creştinii într-o singură Biserică vreodată? Vrea Dumnezeu lucrul acesta? - care trebuie să fie atitudinea ortodocşilor faţă de Europa şi faţă de neortodocşi în general? - poţi fi şi european şi creştin ortodox?Nimeni din reprezentanţii Bisericii de astăzi nu vrea să răspundă la aceste întrebări. Europeana goană după bani şi europeana slavă deşartă, dimpreună cu toate patimile europene, s-au sălăşluit adânc în sufletele reprezentanţilor Bisericii. Mărturisirea lui Hristos şi jertfa pentru Adevăr, dimpreună cu învăţătura ortodoxă despre pocăinţă, ascultare, mântuire, aşa cum a fost făcută în Ortodoxie de două mii de ani, au fost înlocuite cu formule comode de mântuire. Adevărul Bisericii, al lui Hristos, al Sfinţilor Apostoli, al Sfinţilor Părinţi, a fost încuiat sub o mare piatră a tăcerii. Adevărul este astăzi din nou piatră de mult preţ… Mulţumim celor ce au ostenit pentru această carte şi celor care au încurajat apariţia ei. Mai mult decât tuturor îi mulţumim Părintelui Stareţ Justin Pârvu, care a binecuvântat gândul şi toate ostenelile apariţiei acestei cărţi, cu un cuvânt de mare preţ: „Dacă nu vom mărturisi Adevărul şi Ortodoxia după învăţătura Cuviosului Părinte Iustin Popovici, nu ne mântuim”.

Finished it in a couple of days. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. Would probably read it again at some point.
