Overview: Aunque a lo largo de la historia de Alemania ha habido otros momentos en los que numerosos alemanes se vieron obligados a abandonar su país por razones políticas, el exilio más destacado por su magnitud es el que se inició a raíz de la subida al poder de Adolf Hitler en 1933. Uno de los primeros objetivos de la represión nazi fueron los artistas, escritores e intelectuales que durante la República de Weimar habían mostrado sus discrepancias respecto al nazismo. Muchos de ellos abandonaron el país y así, parte de la élite cultural alemana se vio repartida por el mundo. Pero para la mayoría de ellos Alemania siguió muy presente y en muchos casos desarrollaron una importante labor intelectual en torno al problema alemán. A solid read. Interesting premise and executed fairly well. Just a few slow chapters here and there. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. Will be looking for more from this author.

Not bad, but not my favorite. The writing was fine, but I didn't feel very connected to the characters. They felt a bit flat. It's fine if you have nothing else to read.

Really enjoyed this one. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Worth the time and money.

I was pleasantly surprised. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.
