Overview: Who sank my destroyer?That's a question the men who served aboard this great fighting ship have been asking for over 14 years. I can answer that question because I'm mostly responsible for it's sinking. Many Navy ships have been sunk either in battle or made into artificial reefs. The lucky ones became museums and the unlucky ones were turned into scrap and sold to foreign countries. That was not the fate of The USS Benjamin Stoddert, I made sure of that. Most people are not aware of the fact that Benjamin Stoddert was the first Secretary of The Navy, appointed by President John Adams. He held that office from 1798-1801. Some people can argue that he was the father of the US Navy. In any case that ship has a very storied past and was a very highly decorated one. It was the last combat ship to leave Viet Nam after so many years of fighting and the death and disablement of so many of our fighting men and women. I wrote this story because it is true and I was the last person to stand on her deck before she slipped beneath the waves of the Pacific Ocean on February 3, 2001. Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. A solid 5/5 for me.

Not bad, but not my favorite. It had some good moments, but the overall plot felt a bit disjointed in the second half. Might work better for someone else, just wasn't completely for me.

Glad someone recommended this to me. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. A solid 5/5 for me.

Good, but not quite perfect. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. I liked the main character, though some of the side plots were just okay. Not bad at all.
