Bis in die spaten 1980er Jahre wurde Theodorakis mit der Linken identifiziert, im Jahr 1989 kandidierte er aber als Parteiloser fur die Liste der Mitte-Rechts-Partei Nea Dimokratia ( Neue Demokratie'), um dem Land zu helfen, aus der schweren politischen Krise herauszukommen, die durch die zahlreichen Skandale der Regierung von Andreas Papandreou und seiner Pasok-Partei ausgelost worden war. Er half mit, eine grosse Koalition zwischen Konservativen, Sozialisten und Linken zu bilden: Erstmals seit dem griechischen Burgerkrieg wurden damit die Kommunisten der KKE wieder an der Macht beteiligt. 1990 wurde Theodorakis ins Parlament gewahlt - so wie 1964 und 1981 - und als Minister ohne Geschaftsbereich beim Premierminister in die Regierung von Konstantinos Mitsotakis berufen. Not bad, but not my favorite. It had some good moments, but the overall plot felt a bit disjointed in the second half. Might work better for someone else, just wasn't completely for me.
