Overview: Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu is one of the major works of Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī, and a mainstay of the Gauḍiya Vaiṣṇava sampradāya. Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī has admitted that it may be difficult for readers to understand portions of the text, and therefore wrote a commentary to elucidate certain points. Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī has written an additional commentary. In the Eastern Section, Jīva’s complete commentary has been translated, and Viśvanātha’s commentary has been fully translated with the exception of portions which are identical to Jīva’s commentary. The other Sections in general have less extensive commentaries. For these portions Jīva’s commentary has been fully translated and Viśvanātha’s has been translated where additional points are made. In some cases he explains the meaning of the verses quoted and these have simply been incorporated in the translation of the verse without translating the commentary.

Good, but not quite perfect. I liked the main character, though some of the side plots were just okay. A solid 4 stars from me.

Really enjoyed this one. I loved how the story unfolded. It kept me guessing without being too confusing. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.

I was pleasantly surprised. The writing style is very engaging. It’s easy to follow but still has a lot of depth. Would probably read it again at some point.
