Weitere umgangssprachliche Bezeichnungen fur das Fernsehgerat sind Fernseher, Pantoffelkino und Mattscheibe, aber auch vulgar: Glotze. Die Wiedergabe der Bilder beim Fernsehgerat erfolgt auf einem Bildschirm. Die Nutzung von Projektoren als Fernsehapparat (als Heimkino") ist eine weitere Moglichkeit. Mit einer TV-Karte kann heute auch der Monitor des Computers als Fernsehgerat genutzt werden.
