Although he appears to be human, he hides what he really is... A half green dragon. Reimar Pinespell is on the run from the Tumblers, a gang he was a member of since he could remember. To escape them, he's ventured to unfamiliar parts of Yaerna. He doesn't know where he is or where he's going. All he cares about is making it to the next day. An elven woman stumbles upon him, and the two have a less-than-friendly start. After helping one another out of a few traps, the two become unlikely travel companions, passing through several territories dotted with orc bandits. Reimar learns that the elf is on a quest to find the mythical Shattered Sword, an item he believes to be just that: mythical. Things become more complicated as they encounter several seers (or, as Reimar views them, crazy homeless con artists) who speak of prophecies concerning the coming rise of the black and red dragons. The seers warn of the destruction of Yaerna, and the decimation of the humans, dwarves, and elves. As the two go after the legendary weapon, they will have to escape from pursuing enemies, make it through a magically resetting forest, and defeat a red dragon before it is all said and done. Finished it in a couple of days. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. A solid 5/5 for me.

Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. I liked the main character, though some of the side plots were just okay. A solid 4 stars from me.

Finished it in a couple of days. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Worth the time and money.
