Die pater blijkt de lievelingsneef van zijn grootmoeder te zijn, de Leuvense pater Herman-Leo Van Breda (1911-1974). Als de auteur zich verder in het levensverhaal van deze pater gaat verdiepen, gaat een wereld voor hem open. Dit boek vertelt het bijzonder boeiende, ontroerende, aangrijpende en bij vlagen spannende en spectaculaire verhaal van de franciscaanse pater en filosoof die het archief van een van de grondleggers van de fenomenologie, Edmund Husserl (1859-1938), van de ondergang redde net voor en tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog en naar Leuven wist te krijgen om te laten uitgeven. Van Breda zorgde dat Husserls weduwe jarenlang in Leuven kon onderduiken. Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. A solid 5/5 for me.

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.
