Overview: "Rändajad Soome sillal" räägib inimestest, kes liikusid üle Soome lahe ehk Soome sillal, ja nende kogemustest 19. sajandi Soomes ja Eestis. Liikusid nii soome ja eesti rahvusliku liikumise tegelased kui ka hõimutöö aktivistid, kuid liikusid ka soomerootslased, venelased ja baltisaksa aadlikud, kelle huvi elu vastu Soome lahe teisel kaldal hoidsid üleval muud asjad kui keelesugulus või hõimuaade. Eriti siis, kui aurulaevade liiklus oli alles alanud, oli juba Soome silla ületamine paras elamus. Ühtedele oli reis vaid „kruiis“, mille ajal tutvuti kiiresti Helsingi või Tallinna ehk Rääväliga, kuid teistele, keda oli palju rohkem, oli see laevareis teekonna algus teisele maale, kus siis ka pikemalt ringi liiguti. Niimoodi liikusid Soome sillal näiteks Elias Lönnrot, August Ahlqvist, Yrjö Koskinen, Julius Krohn, Lydia Koidula ja paljud teised. Liikusid inimesed, kuid liigutati ka muid asju. Eesti rahvuseepose „Kalevipoeg“ käsikiri viidi trükkimiseks Kuopiosse, ja kui soomlaste laul „Maamme“ (J. V. Jannseni tõlkes „Mu isamaa, mu õnn ja rõõm“) võeti 1869. aastal esimese üldlaulupeo kavva, levis see kiiresti eesti lauluraamatute ja laulukooride kaudu ja sellest sai lõpuks Eesti hümn. Tihenevad sidemed panid innukamad eestlastest Soome-sõbrad unistama juba nende maade ja rahvaste ühendamisest.

Good, but not quite perfect. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Glad I picked this up.

It was just alright. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. Might work better for someone else, just wasn't completely for me.
