Overview: Vishwamanav is a Gujarati language novel written by Jitesh Donga. The story of the book was written inspired by four true stories. The novel starts with a small family in the district of Godhra, Gujarat. Rumi is a ten-year-old child of a young couple Ram and Muskan who rebelled against the religiously divided society. During the incident of Godhra riots the family witnesses brutality of religion based Hindu-Muslim riots. Ram and Muskan get killed in the pre-planned attack from Hindu and Muslim community. The child Rumi escapes the death and leaves towards Mumbai in a train. Then goes the story of frightened and mentally disabled child Rumi who lives poor life in Dharavi area of Mumbai. Vishwamanav is a book of life of child Rumi who reaches Greatness via path which child himself has never imagined. It is a path of life and truth. Vishwamanav becomes a story of life and death and everything in-between. However, the path of following his heart was not an easy one! I liked it for the most part. I liked the main character, though some of the side plots were just okay. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

Glad someone recommended this to me. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Will be looking for more from this author.
