επιχειρεί να εξετάσει μια σημαντική περίοδο στην ιστορία του Κόμματος και της σύγχρονης Ελλάδας, ξεκινώντας από την ανάλυση των διεθνών κι εσωτερικών οικονομικών και πολιτικών εξελίξεων από τις πρώτες αστικές επαναστάσεις ως τον Α΄ Παγκόσμιο ιμπεριαλιστικό Πόλεμο και τη μελέτη των εργατικών και σοσιαλιστικών ρευμάτων που αναπτύχθηκαν πριν την εμφάνιση του Διεθνούς Κομμουνιστικού Κινήματος και του ΣΕΚΕ/ΚΚΕ.Η εξέταση της περιόδου 1918-1949 γίνεται σε αλληλοσύνδεση με την εξέταση των εξελίξεων στη διεθνή και την εγχώρια καπιταλιστική οικονομία και των επεξεργασιών του Διεθνούς Κομμουνιστικού Κινήματος. Η παρουσίαση της ηρωικής πάλης του ΚΚΕ στο Μεσοπόλεμο, αλλά και της πρωτοπόρας δράσης του στη δεκαετία του 1940 στοχεύουν τόσο στην υπεράσπιση της ιστορίας του εργατικού και κομμουνιστικού κινήματος όσο και στην άντληση συμπερασμάτων χρήσιμων για τους σημερινούς πολιτικούς αγώνες.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ο τόμος αυτός χωρίζεται σε δύο μέρη. Το πρώτο μέρος καταπιάνεται με την ανάπτυξη του καπιταλισμού στην Ελλάδα κατά τη μεσοπολεμική περίοδο. Το θέμα αυτό παρουσιάζει εξαιρετικό ενδιαφέρον, καθώς αναδεικνύει πως, σε αντίθεση με πολλές αναλύσεις του Κόμματος αυτήν την εποχή, είχαν διαμορφωθεί οι ελάχιστοι υλικοί όροι για τη σοσιαλιστική επανάσταση στη χώρα μας. Οι πολύμορφες αδυναμίες και ανεπάρκειες στην ανάλυση της ελληνικής καπιταλιστικής οικονομίας και του εποικοδομήματός της τότε επέδρασαν και στη διαμόρφωση της λαθεμένης στρατηγικής των σταδίων (που βεβαίως είχε επικρατήσει γενικότερα ως στρατηγικός προσανατολισμός στο διεθνές κομμουνιστικό κίνημα, ιδιαίτερα από τη δεκαετία του 1930 και μετά).Στο δεύτερο μέρος του Α2 Τόμου αναδεικνύονται οι εσωτερικές και διεθνείς συνθήκες μέσα στις οποίες ιδρύθηκε το ΚΚΕ, ως «ώριμο τέκνο της ανάγκης και ώριμο τέκνο της οργής». Στη συνέχεια, καταγράφονται όλη η σκληρή πορεία του Κόμματος για την κατάκτηση των επαναστατικών του χαρακτηριστικών, η διαπάλη που αναπτύχθηκε στο εσωτερικό του, στην οποία επιδρούσε και η διαπάλη στο διεθνές κομμουνιστικό κίνημα. Αναδεικνύεται επίσης ο αντίκτυπος στη στρατηγική του από τις διακυμάνσεις της στρατηγικής της Κομμουνιστικής Διεθνούς – ΚΔ (ιδιαίτερη έμφαση δίνεται εδώ στο 6ο και 7ο Συνέδριο της ΚΔ, το 1928 και 1935 αντίστοιχα). Το τελευταίο σημειώνεται παράλληλα με το γεγονός ότι μια σειρά από συλλογικές αποφάσεις του ΚΚΕ αυτήν την περίοδο έδειξαν ότι διέθετε ορισμένες προϋποθέσεις για τη διαμόρφωση αυτοτελούς επαναστατικής στρατηγικής.Στο ίδιο μέρος δίνεται έμφαση στην ηρωική πάλη του Κόμματος στα χρόνια 1918-1939. Αναλύονται οι δύσκολες και πρωτόγνωρες τότε συνθήκες παρανομίας και ημιπαρανομίας στις οποίες έδρασε το ΚΚΕ. Αναδεικνύονται ο κατασταλτικός χαρακτήρας του αστικού κράτους, ανεξάρτητα από την εκάστοτε μορφή διακυβέρνησης («Φιλελεύθερης» ή «Λαϊκής», «αντιμοναρχικής» ή «φιλομοναρχικής», αστικής δημοκρατίας ή δικτατορίας), η μελετημένη προσπάθεια του ταξικού εχθρού να διεισδύσει στις γραμμές του Κόμματος.Εξαίρονται ο διεθνιστικός χαρακτήρας του Κόμματος ως τμήματος της ΚΔ, η έκφραση στην πράξη του προλεταριακού διεθνισμού και ταυτόχρονα η εναντίωσή του στον ιμπεριαλιστικό πόλεμο.Γίνονται, επίσης, λεπτομερείς αναφορές στους σκληρούς ταξικούς αγώνες του εργατικού – λαϊκού κινήματος, στις διώξεις χιλιάδων αγωνιζόμενων εργατών και αγροτών, που είχαν δεκάδες νεκρούς. Ανάμεσά τους ξεχωρίζει, βεβαίως, ο ηρωικός Μάης του 1936 στη Θεσσαλονίκη.Η περίοδος, τέλος, κλείνει με τη δικτατορία της 4ης Αυγούστου, που αποτέλεσε τη μεγαλύτερη έως τότε δοκιμασία του ΚΚΕ.

Not bad, but not my favorite. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. It's fine if you have nothing else to read.
