Overview: Die drei Gedichtbände »Was will Niyazi in der Naunynstraße« (1973), »Der kurze Traum aus Kagithane« (1974) und »Die Fremde ist auch ein Haus« (1980) bilden zusammen die »Berliner Trilogie«. Die Poeme waren unter den ersten literarisch anspruchsvollen und erfolgreichen Texten, die in Deutschland die Situation türkischer Arbeitsmigrant*innen überhaupt thematisierten. »Was will Niyazi in der Naunynstraße«, der Auftakt der Trilogie, diente als Vorlage für mehrere Filme und wurde 1987 von Tayfun Erdem vertont. Ören stellt in diesen Texten das Leben von Arbeiter*innen in der Bundesrepublik und in Berlin in all seiner Widersprüchlichkeit dar. Pretty good overall. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

Really enjoyed this one. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Glad I picked this up.

I was pleasantly surprised. I loved how the story unfolded. It kept me guessing without being too confusing. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.
