Overview: Qual è il ruolo della musica nel mondo contemporaneo? Sembra che il medium musicale oggi sia onnipresente, eppure mai come oggi, in tempi di industrializzazione progressiva e privatizzazione completa del settore, la musica ha perso le sue fondamentali funzioni di collante sociale, narrazione di gruppo, epica collettiva. La musica non sembra più una sostanza viva, non è più sé stessa. Preda delle spinte uniformanti del mercato e delle norme egemoni della società liberale, la musica è scomparsa per quello che era ed è sempre stata. È in questo contesto che urge una sociologia della musica, nuova e indocile, per ragionare radicalmente sul problema musicale che, in fondo, rappresenta la questione antropologica contemporanea.Antonello Cresti è saggista, compositore ed agitatore culturale. Si è laureato con lode in Scienze dello Spettacolo presso l’Università di Firenze. Ha già pubblicato dieci libri, usciti con varie case editrici, dedicati a musica underground, cultura britannica, controcultura e esoterismo. Attualmente concentra i suoi sforzi maggiori nella divulgazione delle “musiche altre” sul territorio nazionale.Renzo Cresti è docente di Storia della musica presso il Conservatorio di Lucca (dove è stato anche direttore e dove tiene un corso di Storia del Jazz). Come musicologo ha scritto o curato oltre 40 libri, molti dei quali dedicati alla musica del Novecento e ai compositori contemporanei. Suoi testi sono stati tradotti in inglese, tedesco, francese, portoghese, spagnolo e giapponese. È stato consulente del teatro del Giglio di Lucca, ideando, fra l’altro, Anfiteatro jazz (1994 e ancora in corso). Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. Glad I picked this up.

I was pleasantly surprised. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Would probably read it again at some point.

Really enjoyed this one. I got really invested in the main character's journey. Everything just clicked for me. Will be looking for more from this author.

Pretty good overall. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. Enjoyable weekend read.

It was just alright. It had some good moments, but the overall plot felt a bit disjointed in the second half. Might work better for someone else, just wasn't completely for me.

It was okay. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. Just right down the middle.

Finished it in a couple of days. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Worth the time and money.
