İstanbul Tasavvuf Araştırmaları Merkezi’nin (İSTAM) katkıları ile gerçekleşen bu toplantılarda İlahiyat Fakültelerinde zorunlu olarak okutulan Tasavvuf I ve Tasavvuf II derslerinin içeriklerinin yeniden tespit edilmesinin bir ihtiyaç olduğu görüldü.İşe, daha önce hazırlanan Tasavvuf Tarihi çalışmaları incelenerek başlandı. Tasavvuf Tarihi alanında değerli öğretim üyeleri;Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kara,Prof. Dr. H. Kâmil Yılmaz,Prof. Dr. Osman Türer,Prof. Dr. Hülya Küçükve Doç. Dr. M. Necmettin Bardakçı’nın eserleri başta olmak üzere alana dair yapılan hemen her araştırma imkânlar dâhilinde incelendi. Her birinin önemli bir boşluğu doldurduğu görüldü. Ancak bu çalışmalar eski programda iki saat kredisi olan bir ders içeriği dikkate alınarak hazırlanmıştı.Pek çok konu kısa ve öz bir şekilde ele alınmıştı. Halbuki yeni programa göre ünite ve başlıkların sistematik bir şekilde yeniden başlıklandırılması ve detaylandırılması gerekiyordu. Bu çalışmayla yapılmaya çalışılan da budur.Tasavvuf I ve Tasavvuf II ders içeriklerine göre hazırladığımız bu projenin geniş katılımlı bir akademisyen grubu tarafından yardımcı ders kitabına dönüştürülmesi uygun bulundu. Ders içeriklerinin belki biraz daha tartışılması ve olgunlaşması gerektiği düşünülürken, İlahiyat Fakültesi’nde anabilim dallarına ait ders kitaplarını 2012 yılında basmayı düşünen Grafi ker Yayınları’ndan gelen bir teklif, projenin belki biraz daha erken vücûd bulmasına sebep oldu.
