While the author was struggling to find out a central theme for the book, he came across the book of the Japanese Monk Kenko. The book goes by various names in its English version one of them being 'The Miscellany of a Japanese Priest'. The rest is history.Of course all the articles in this book are not 'jottings of idle hours'. Some probe deep into social issues and some into author's past lives. Good, but not quite perfect. The middle dragged a tiny bit, but the ending totally made up for it. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

Glad someone recommended this to me. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Glad I picked this up.
