Overview: Renaldo Ishaak: first responder op Koninginnedag 2009. De marechaussee-biker is als een van de eersten ter plaatse zodra de zwarte Suzuki Swift na zijn dodelijke rit crasht tegen ‘De Naald’ in Apeldoorn. Ishaak weet direct: dit is een aanslag. De moordmachine blijkt achteraf geen explosieven te bevatten, maar de dodelijke daad is wel een tijdbom in zijn hoofd. Open en eerlijk vertelt Ishaak over de impact die de aanslag en andere incidenten op hem hadden: op de mens achter het uniform. Dat uniform beschermt en geeft kracht, maar maakt kwetsbaar zodra het uitgaat. Deze kwetsbaarheid uitte zich in PTSS en veranderde Ishaak: eerst in een gebroken en vervolgens in een beter mens. En misschien wel in een nóg betere marechaussee. Renaldo Ishaak Renaldo Ishaak is teamleider bij de Koninklijke Marechaussee. Zijn primaire werkgebied is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol: een van de grootste luchthavens van Europa. Hij beleefde de Schipholbrand, de vliegtuigramp met Turkish Airlines, de aanslag op Koninginnedag en andere grote en kleine ‘incidenten’. Really enjoyed this one. The author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. No weird plot holes left behind. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.

Glad someone recommended this to me. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. A solid 5/5 for me.

A very satisfying read. It has a good balance of dialogue and description. Everything felt like it moved at the right speed. Worth the time and money.

Pretty good overall. I liked the main character, though some of the side plots were just okay. Still a good book.

Good, but not quite perfect. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. I'd probably recommend it to a friend.

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. I loved how the story unfolded. It kept me guessing without being too confusing. Definitely recommend it if you like this genre.
