Zunehmend prägt dieser Konflikt also auch die politische Landschaft in Deutschland. Der Aufstieg des Rechtspopulismus ist dabei nur die eine Seite der Medaille. Lukas Haffert argumentiert in seinem Buch, dass Stadt-Land-Konflikte immer dann besonders scharf werden, wenn sich ökonomische Struktur und Lebensstile in großen Städten besonders stark von denen auf dem Land unterscheiden. Er erklärt, warum diese Unterschiede in unserem kapitalistischen Wirtschaftssystem seit einiger Zeit wieder zunehmen, und fragt, welche politischen Folgen das hat. Dabei zeigt Haffert den Zusammenhang wachsender Stadt-Land-Gegensätze mit dem Aufstieg der AfD, den Wahlerfolgen der Grünen und den wachsenden Repräsentationslücken im deutschen politischen System. In der zunehmenden Kritik an der vermeintlich abgehobenen Elite in Berlin erkennt er den Versuch, diesen Gegensätzen politische Sprengkraft zu verleihen.

Such a great read. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. A solid 5/5 for me.

Took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was worth it. Writing is good, just wish there was a bit more depth in certain parts. Still kept my attention though. Enjoyable weekend read.

I have mixed feelings about this one. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. It's fine if you have nothing else to read.
