Das Konstruktionsburo des Werks Nr. 37 in Moskau entwickelte den T-40 in der ersten Halfte des Jahres 1939. Als Chefkonstrukteur wirkte Nikolai Alexandrowitsch Astrow, einer der damals fuhrenden Spezialisten in der Entwicklung leichter Panzer. Die Rote Armee nahm den Panzer im Dezember 1939 an und das Werk Nr. 37 produzierte ihn bis Dezember 1941 in Serie. Wahrend der Serienfertigung modifizierten die Entwickler den T-40 mehrfach, sowohl um die Fertigung zu vereinfachen, als auch um Panzerung und Feuerkraft zu verstarken. Die spateren Ausfuhrungen, in der Literatur als T-40S und T-30 bezeichnet, wiesen einen besseren Panzerschutz auf und trugen als Hauptbewaffnung eine kleinkalibrige automatische Kanone statt eines uberschweren Maschinengewehrs. Gleichzeitig verloren die Panzer ihre Schwimmfahigkeit. Diese Varianten stellten Ubergangsmodelle zum Nachfolger des T-40, dem leichten Panzer T-60, dar. Not bad, but not my favorite. The pacing was a bit slow and I found myself skimming a few pages. It wasn't terrible, just okay. Probably won't read it again, but it was an okay way to pass the time.

Glad someone recommended this to me. The pacing was spot on and the characters felt real. I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Will be looking for more from this author.

Honestly one of the better books I've read lately. I loved how the story unfolded. It kept me guessing without being too confusing. Would probably read it again at some point.
